Quality Time with My Kids

I enjoyed some quality time with my oldest two kids last night. We took a trip to the dollar store where my daughter Allysa picked out a frisbee and my son, Jonathan picked out some blue bubbles! We stopped by McDonald's after this to get some cookies! We returned home to play in the yard for a time with their new toys.
In the midst of a very busy life it is important to spend time with ones children. If I do not bond with my children now, I will have no pull when they are in the danger zone of their teenage years. I pray that by investing time today in my children, I may save my wife and I many heartaches tomorrow!

Cursing the Blessed Ones?

Balaak took Balaam up to curse Israel. One of the places they went to try to plot the curse of Israel was Mt. Pisgah. Not too many years later Moses would stand on this same Mount looking the other direction at all the land God would give to His chosen people, Israel.

Three Landmarks of the Christian Life

In studying for this week's Sunday School lesson on the crossing of the Red Sea I noticed three major landmarks in Israel's journey.

1. Their Deliverance
2. Their Crossing of the Red Sea
3. Their Enterance into the Promised Land

There were other events but these were the most major to me. They had to be delivered to start the journey. The Crossing of the Red Sea enabled them to continue on with their journey and the Enterance into the Promised Land was the goal of their journey. Reminds me of three landmarks in our Christian life...

1. Salvation
2. Baptism
3. Victorious Christian Life

Salvation is what starts us on the journey. Baptism is what enables us to continue the journey. Living the victorious life for Christ is the whole point of the journey!

The Strange Woman's Attack

It is worth noting that in Proverbs 7 the woman referred to as the strange woman arranged a four pronged assault on the senses of the simple young man who was void of understanding.

1. THE ATTACK OF THE EYE GATE! She made an assult on the mind of the young man through his eyes. She wore the attire of an harlot. (Proverbs 7:10)

2. THE ATTACK ON THE PHYSICAL BOUNDARY! She caught him and kissed him, crossing the physical boundary and attacking the mind through the sense of touch. (Proverbs 7:13)

3. THE ATTACK ON THE EAR! - She praised him and flattered him and buttered him up with her words, attacking his mind by way of the ears. (Proverbs 7:15)

4. THE ATTACK ON THE NOSE! - She had perfumed her bed with various spices of sin. (Proverbs 7:17)

Quote from 1949

"America is God's country while Europe is a whited seplicure of corruption" - Unknown

In 1949 this was much truer than it is today. Unfortunately America is swiftly falling into that same whited seplicure. May we pray and preach for our country to be strong once again!

10 Plagues of Egypt

As I am studying for this Sunday's lesson for Sunday School on the Ten Plagues of Egypt, I am intrigued by the fact that each of ten Plagues were very symbolic showing that God did not haphazardly attack the Egyptions, but rather very systematically. Notice...
1. Turning the Waters to Blood - The Nile River was an extremely powerful god to the Egyptians, yet in an instant was rendered helpless by the power of the true God.
2. The Frogs - These were a symbol of Resurrection to the Egyptians. I imagine this abundance of frogs made them almost wish they could die. Then their resurrection gods died and were piled into heaps and stank...
3. The lice - The Egyptians worshiped lice, among other insects, and now had way too many of them! Symbolic of the fact that Egypt served too many gods.
4. The flies - In ancient times many civilizations had gods to protect them from flies...This was a symbol of the local gods inability!
5. Murrain on the Cattle - God's attack on Egypt's symbol of wealth.
6. Boils - God shows Egypt he has power over health.
7. Lightning and Hail - God shows he controls their "gods of the air"
8. Locusts - God shows he can vanquish their food supply
9. Darkness - Symbolic of the state Egypt was in.
10. The Passover - Symbolic of Salvation

Hair Cutting Time

Mama's making sure he won't be a little long haired hippie! :)

Sunday Excitement!

Sunday should be an exciting day around the church house! Sadly, ministering in our local churches has become more of a drag preformed by people who are bound solely by a sense of duty rather than a love for their Saviour!

Actions of the Gospel

Exodus 8 tells us that Moses put blood on three places of Aaron's body. The tip of the ear, on his thumb, and on his great toe. These represent three actions we need to do with the Gospel...
1. The ear - We need to hear it.
2. The hand - We must receive it.
3. The foot - We must take it to others

The Importance of a Budget

Pleasing the LORD Knows No Class

In Israel there were three types of animals offered as a sacrifice. These particular animals represented the three classes of Israel. The sacrifice of the herd (bulls) was often brought and offered by the rich, while the sacrifice of the flock (lamb) was generally offered by the middle class. The offerings of fowl (pigeons or turtle doves) were generally brought by the poor. However, Leviticus 1 tells us that all three had the same result in being "a sweet savour unto the LORD."

Little Allysa Rose...This little lady is about to turn 2 years old tomorrow and she is so excited! Amazing how quickly time flies...Seems like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, and now she will be two. Wow! She was our first and we are now expecting our third to come any day now.
